Death of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

The PCC of St Catherine’s Church Drayton join with the nation in sending their condolences to the Royal Family on the death of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

In keeping with HRH’s wishes and those of the Royal Family – that this will be a low-key time – the following may be of interest:

St Catherine’s Church will continue to be open as normal for private prayer and reflection on Sundays and Wednesdays. Resources for private prayer can be found at https://www.churchofengland.org/remembering-his-royal-highness-prince-philip#prayer.

In accordance with the wishes of the Royal Family, members of the public are asked to consider making a donation to a charity instead of leaving floral tributes in memory of the Duke.

In line with Covid restrictions, there will not be a physical Book of Condolence in the Church. Instead, there is an online Book of Condolence on the Church of England website here: https://www.churchofengland.org/media-and-news/news-releases/condolence-book-hrh-prince-philip-duke-edinburgh-opens-online

The Bishops of the Bath and Wells Diocese have made a statement here: https://bathandwells.org.uk/news/bishop-peter-and-bishop-ruth-express-sorrow-at-the-death-of-hrh-the-duke-of-edinburgh-.php
