A letter from the Chairman:
Good afternoon Gentlemen,
I am afraid that it looks as though the rest of our season is not going to happen and I have cancelled the next two speakers. Damon Bridge was going to talk about the bird life on the Somerset levels on 26th January and Stephen Honey was going to tell us about Muchelney Abbey on 23rd February. I am hoping that they will both agree to being invited back at a later date.
The restrictions brought in to counter the continuing Covid-19 pandemic do not look like being eased at any time in the near future and many of our membership are understandably apprehensive of catching the disease, or at least being confined to barracks. I am not at all sure if any of the later meetings will go ahead but we will keep you posted.
It is to be fervently hoped that there will be an end to this pain in the fundament so that things can shortly return to normal. In the meanwhile my colleagues, Alastair, Robin and Peter wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
Michael Richards, Chairman, The Drayton Group
