St Catherine, Drayton
The church stands in the centre of the main street and is surrounded by its churchyard
St Catherine’s has a small, but loyal congregation and there is often a service at 9.15am on Sundays. The preferred service is Common Worship, Traditional Language. The congregation sometimes joins with neighbouring Muchelney for a Eucharist or a Family Service (which alternates between the two villages).
Refreshments are served after the service – including ‘proper’ coffee!
Church members are involved in many aspects of village life and societies.
A bi-annual ‘Pet Show’ and fete run by the church is a regular feature of village life, and the church sponsors the monthly Farmers Market, selling local meat, bread and vegetables, as well as local crafts such as pottery.
Bacon rolls are available at the market, along with other refreshments.
The Annual Harvest Lunch is looked forward to, and during the Street Fair in early September, refreshments are sold in the church, and there is often a chance at the fair for tower visits.
