2022 Wassail night at the Drayton Crown

Wednesday 5 January 2022 saw the Drayton Wassailers out again, singing the famous Drayton Wassail song as many have done before them for at least the last 200 years. This year they called on 15 houses and with the rehearsal that took place in the Drayton Crown prior to setting of, they sang the song 16 times!
The evening started at the Drayton Crown where Co-Masters for the evening, Michael Kennett and David Adams were interviewed by Dan Saladino from Radio 4. Dan and his Cameraman followed them to a few of the houses to expereince the Drayton Wassail and film them. Then on to Midelney Place and Midelney Manor before making their way through the village eventually ending up at the Drayton Crown. The generous people of Drayton donated around £450, half of which will go to The Salvation Army, a Charity supported by late Wassailer Richard Willey. The other half will go to a village cause.
Apologies that the video at the end is blurred, will replace the BBC’s video when they let us have it.
